OCTOBER 2010 - TORREVIEJA: THE DREAM OF ANY ATHLETE
The city of Torrevieja offers athletes from around the world 300,000 square meters facility, which has become the best Sports City of Valencia. Football fields, rugby, tennis, pools, pavilions ... And the project has not yet peaked. The Mayor of Torrevieja, Mr. Pedro Hernández Mateo, opened the facility last June amid great expectations, leading to an open day to present its characteristics. But the 'jewel in the crown' is the multipurponse field suitable for rugby, which occupies an area of 3.000 square meters, with capacity for 3.000 spectators and has been designed by architect Mr. Adolfo Rodríguez.

OCTOBER 2008 "DIRIGENTES" AWARD
The DIRIGENTES magazine has awarded twelve Valencian companies for their "permanent search for excellence". The prize award cermony took place on the 23rd of October at Valencia Stock Exchange Building. The Publishing Board of the Dirigentes Group, together with the support from readers and subscribers, selected twelve companies classified into twelve categories, renowned for their successful performance. The "Project of the Year Award" was awarded to Valencia Yacht Port. The Valencia Yacht Base is the new dock designed by the Valencian architect Adolfo Rodríguez which has been in charge of setting in motion the Royal Yacht Club of the Valencian Community.
AUGUST 2008 PRESENTATION OF THE PROJECT OF TORREVIEJA
The project for the urban integration of Torreviejas new harbourfront has been presented at the Cultural Centre of Virgen del Carmen, relying on the presence among others, of the Councillor for Infrastructure and Transport Mr. Mario Flores, the Ports, Airports and Coasts Chairman Mr. Carlos Javier Eleno, the Lord Major of Torrevieja Mr. Pedro Hernndez Mateo and the Project Architect, Mr. Adolfo Rodrguez Lpez. The intervention plans to realign Torreviejas harbourfront by integrating the port into the city, ensuring the coexistence of both urban and port uses and taking advantage of the synergies that might arise between them. The general aim of the project is the urban integration of Torreviejas harbourfront and its adjustment for the public use by creating open and continuous areas, making use of the dimension and centrality of the harbourfront in relation to Torreviejas city centre. The project scope comprises Torreviejas Harbourfront along 1.700 m from the outer harbour to Juan Aparicios Promenade. In order to reach the established objectives, the project plans the construction of several underground car parks along the area of intervention (2000-2500 parking spaces approximately). The urban integration of the port docks will involve an investment of more than one hundred million euro, the eighty per cent of which will be financed by the private initiative and the resting twenty per cent will be borne by the Autonomous Community Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport. The Councillor Mr. Mario Flores declared to be impressed by the project and he congratulated both the Lord Major and the Architect, Mr. Adolfo Rodrguez. He pointed out that Torreviejas Port, thanks to the recent construction of the Marina Salinas port, which is already integrated in the new project, is the port with the highest number of sport boat berths in the Valencian Community (2.300). Flores announced that this project will be turned into reality in four or five years, apart from other complementary interventions that are being carried out, such as the Vista Alegre Promenade, included in the project and also by the same Valencian architect. The Councillor pointed out that this project will turn Torrevieja into one of the most prestigious tourist cities and will be a main appeal to the image of the citys future.
APRIL 2008 THE CASINO OF VILA JOIOSA PLANS TO BUILD A SKYCRAPER ON THE SITE WHERE IT IS CURRENTLY LOCATED
The Casino of La Vila Joiosa, which has been a tourist attraction for over thirty years, is planned to be replaced by a skycraper according to its present owners, Casinos del Mediterrneo. The Casino has announced its transfer to Alicante, where construction work has already commenced for the future location of the Casino. The company wishes to maintain La Vila as a branch of the central headquarters but with the view of giving it a completely different use. The society
MARCH 2008 THE COUNCILLOR FOR HEALTH, MR. MANUEL CERVERA, HAS PRESENTED THE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT OF A SPECIALIST CONSULTATION CENTRE IN CATARROJA
The Councillor for Health, Mr. Manuel Cervera, joined by the Lord Major of Catarroja, Mr. Francisco Chirivella along with the Board of Directors of the Departament of Health (10 Peset), have announced today at a press conference, that work will soon commence on the refurbishment of the building which will soon be the new health centre of Catarroja. This site, on Emili Ferrer Street and near the actual Health Centre, was yielded by the Town Hall of Catarroja and consists of a ground floor building, with easy access, covering a surface of 320 square metres. The centre will include, apart from its area of specialist consultations, admission and information desks, waiting rooms, toilets and multifunctional space. This project has been designed by the architect Mr. Adolfo Rodríguez. The amount invested in this construction is approximately 300.000 euro and it is hoped that the finalization will be in the month of June, so that the centre will start accepting appointments after the Summer. The Lord Major Mr. Francisco Chirivella commented 'on the importance of this new medical service for all the inhabitants of Catarroja, who will enjoy a better quality of life by not having to travel to Valencia for medical consultation, being able to receive specialist attention at this health centre, while the future Integrated Health Centre project gets started'.
MARCH 2008 THE LORD MAJOR OF TORREVIEJA AND THE GENERAL DIRECTOR OF THE PORT AUTHORITIES VISIT THE CONSTRUCTION WORK OF THE PASEO VISTA ALEGRE
The Autonomous Community Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport is carrying out urbanization works on the Paseo Vista Alegre in Torrevieja (Alicante). The investment planned for the promenade amounts to nearly about 3 million Euro. The promenade is located on an overelevated area, measuring about 206 metres long and over 25 metres wide. The interventions planned include, the paving of the promenade which will provide shade for the passers-by, new lighting, some linear concrete benches covered with 'trencadis' along both sides of the central promenade, serving as plant holders and green areas, and vegetation including autochthonous plantations. Furthermore, the project redesigns the urbanization of the adjacent areas surrounding the main promenade, taking in the road in the port area to the south, and the pavements and urban roads towards the north. The total intervention including the main promenade covers around 13.000 square metres. Hernández Mateo emphasized that parallel to the remodelling of the Paseo Vista Alegre, the municipal parking would also be made waterproof in order to avoid filtrations and this would contribute in the creation of a more appropiate environment in which the inhabitants can enjoy themselves in the square.
JANUARY 2008 THE MAYOR OF TORREVIEJA ANNOUNCES THAT THE NEW PLAZA DE ORIENTE WILL BE OPENED IN 2009
On Wednesday 23rd January, Pedro Hernández Mateo, Mayor of Torrevieja, visited the works on the Plaza de Oriente square, along with Works Councillor and architect Adolfo Rodríguez. The Mayor stressed the good pace the work was going at and fulfilment of the deadlines planned by the company awarded the contract. Hernández Mateo pointed out that in six months the first underground parking storey has been completed and the second is intended to be finished by the month of April. The parking zone will have space for 480 cars. Hernández Mateo stated that in May the new Plaza de Oriente will start to be built as well as the new Sagrado Corazón Church, which, if the works go on at the present speed, will be opened in 2009.
OCTOBER 2007 MASSAMAGRELL MUNICIPAL SPORTS HALL
Mr. Adolfo Rodríguez will be in charge of designing the Massamagrell Municipal Sports Hall after winning the project tender.The project winning the ideas tender, drawn up by the Adolfo Rodríguez Architecture and Urban Development Office, conceives the new hall as a multi-purpose space in which different sports such as basketball, handball, 5-a side football, volleyball or swimming can be practised.The jury, consisting of a team of municipal technical engineers and autonomous community experts, wished to stress the high level of the projects put forward for the tender, which is why the final decision was based on the technical details of each project, taking into account which of these best matched the requirements of Massamagrell Councils usage programme.Apart from the actual hall, the future premises will have an indoor swimming pool, multi-purpose sports rooms and a gymnasium, with their respective dressing rooms and offices, apart from a cafeteria which will link the outside and the inside of the sports complex and which will have views onto the indoor pool.Technically the complex will have a large multi-sports room able to take roughly 1150 spectators and five adjacent sports rooms of one hundred square metres each for practising diverse activities, apart from the space used for the covered pool, which will comply with the statutory sizes to be able to hold official short pool championships here.
JUNE 2007 VISTA ALEGRE PROMENADE IN TORREVIEJA
Adolfo Rodríguez has been awarded the Site Management of the Paseo Marítimo de Vista Alegre (Promenade in Torrevieja - Alacant), through a competitive tender arranged by the Autonomous Community Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport. The project is characterised by including a sun shelter enabling shade to be ensured all along the promenade, and by its special treatment of lighting.
MAY 2007 ALZIRA AUDITORIUM
Adolfo Rodrguez has been selected as one of the four finalists in the Competition for the Auditorium and Conference Palace of Alzira (Valencia) at present being developed in the second phase of the competition. The Alzira Auditorium and Conference palace will have a main room able to take from 450 to 500 spectators and also have a 300 square metre stage which will be used for different cultural activities such as music for orchestra, chamber music, dance or brass band music, amongst others. The aim is for the building to become a county reference and for this reason should be characterised by its appealing, modern, eye-catching and original architecture. The requisites are for the building to have an appealing, modern and original architectural composition with an appropriate usage of natural light. Its facilities include a main room, a further two rooms for conferences, able to take from 150 to 200 spectators, a recording studio, dressing rooms for 80 people, a 200 square metre exhibition room and the main lobby. All of this is located on a plot which will cover around 17000 square metres, to include an extensive public pedestrian space, closely linked to the building. The jury consists of the mayor of Alzira, Elena Bastidas, the councillors for Culture, Consuelo Berenguer, Public Services, Gisela Blasco, a representative of the municipal political groups of the opposition, an architect designed by Valencia Architects Association, an architect designated by Alzira Council, the director of the socio-cultural area and the president of the Societat Musical dAlzira.
FEBRUARY 2007 THE 153 DAY MULTI-SPORTS CENTRE !
In record time, after just 153 days work, as was envisaged, the Altea sports centre was opened with a friendly basketball match between Etosa and Pamesa.The new Palau dEsports de la Costa Blanca Villa de Altea was designed by architect Adolfo Rodrguez, its main facade being totally glass-walled to take advantage of the views of the sea and the Bernia Mountain Range. It has a capacity for 3000 persons and a budget of 5 million euros.
MAY 2005 TORREVIEJA'S CORTES VALENCIANAS FOOTBRIDGE OPENED
The Mayor of Torrevieja, Mr. Pedro Hernández Mateo, accompanied by the architect who designed the project, Mr. Adolfo Rodríguez, and a large part of the municipal corporation, opened the N-332 footbridge in the Avenida de las Cortes Valencianas, which has meant an investment of 390,000 euros. The Mayor has stressed the good image of this pedestrian bridge, which serves an area in which there are numerous shopping centres, schools and estates, which is why it was a necessity now covered. MAY 2005 EIGHT RENOWNED ARCHITECTS COMPETING IN THE GUEST BUILDING FOR AMERICAS CUP
Yesterday the Americas Cup Consortium closed the period allowed for presenting offers for building the VIP guest building for the event. Eight architects went in for the most singular project to be undertaken on the docks. These are José María Lozano, Jean Nouvel, Carlos Meri, Ferrater and Pen, GMP, Adolfo Rodríguez and Alejandro Zaera.The construction of the VIP guest building for Americas Cup has aroused great interest among some of the most renowned Spanish and International architects. Eight offers had been received for this work yesterday by the Valencia 2007 Consortium, the project including the only building to be kept after the nautical event. Apart from the building, there will be a car park with 800 places and the so-called AC Park, the esplanade where Americas Cup Management will do most of its activities. The complex, which will cost 36 million euros, will be at one end of the dock, in the space to be gained by building the canal. FCC and Edifesa will rely on the work of Adolfo Rodríguez, according to their own sources. This architect worked for several years at the office of Santiago Calatrava, although he now has nothing to do with this, not being a cover for Calatrava as has been asserted on occasions.
